Tracy Timby reports on a Paralegal achievement..wonderful news!
Tracy,
"Just wanted to let you know that I went for my paralegal scholarship interview on 5/31/08 and I was informed today that I received the full $10,000 scholarship from Peirce. I was the biggest scholarship winner. I'm so excited and wanted to share the news. You, and the Paralegal Program at Bucks were instrumental in my achievement. Thanks so much!!! Hope you're having a great summer. “

Business & Learning in Second Life..something to ponder
Businesses are in Second Life...hundreds ! From small business to large corporations Calvin Klein, Sears, IBM...
IBM...in Second life:
Do we just "tell" our students about the business opportunities that exist in SL or use SL to support the learning. Schools are using Second life to hold classes, invite guest speakers, support learning activities etc.

Attended the New Media Consortium Conference in Princeton NJ last week!
It was a great conference that brought to light many exciting ways to energize and engage students in the classroom. One of the presentations got my undivided attention because I have experimented with using student created videos in my classes this past semester to meet some learning objectives. For example, we made videos that represented the 4P’s of marketing and video resumes etc. Anyway…the link I’m providing here presents a showcase of digital media success stories at U of P.
“ Student-created video and multimedia is an increasingly popular undergraduate assignment option at Penn, replacing traditional research papers. Creative videos assignments engage students in high level critical thinking, writing, planning, scripting and group collaboration tasks.” (WIC at U of P )
By the way, these video assignments were applied to a wide variety of disciplines and classes. More specifically, some of the assignments given required the student to make a Video Mashup : http://wic.library.upenn.edu/multimedia/tutorials/mashup.html
This link can provide you with some more insights and examples of winning videos in their Video Mash-up Contest : http://wic.library.upenn.edu/mashup/mashup2007.html
Finally….and this is getting a little too loooong, if you have an interest I have some great examples of video projects assigned by instructors in a variety of disciplines that met required learning outcomes.
Thanks for listening!
